In search of good headphones

Hey,

I've been looking for a good pair of headphones for a while now. I'm listening to almost all kinds of music, so that's less of an issue.

The main thing I need in those desired headphones is for them to completely seal outside noise. I want to feel like I'm isolated from the outside world.

The price is an issue if it gets really expensive (above 200$)

Thanks!

Do they need to be portable? Also there's not that many headphones with fantastic noise isolation. If that's your main priority you might even want to look at ANC headphones like the UE6000/9000 (can be had for <$200 on sale/refurbished).

Yes they need to be portable.

Thanks for the answer though, the model you suggested seems to be pretty good. A little pricey but it seems good.

Only question is, will they be extremely warm on the ears (like many over-ear headphones are), cause that might prove to be an issue. Also I've just considered this whole "noise reduction" thing, it adds quite a bit to the price, but does it actually prevent all outside noises regardless of their origin? or does it only help against aircraft engine sounds and such.

ANC only works on ambient noise, yes.

As for comfort, they are decently comfortable, and whether they'll get hot depends on the person.

The thing is, most headphones don't provide extreme noise isolation. You'll still hear most everything, though a lot less, even with ANC.

Why not in-ears? They tend to provide better noise isolation and you don't have to worry about your ears getting hot. Look into the Etymotic HF5.

Just buy those Bose noise canceling headphones if that's your main thing.
