I'm in the market for my first pair of proper headphones (thus far, I've always used Apple Earbuds.... I know, I know).
Could someone please make a recommendation based on the following:
1. They will always be connected to a laptop (which has a high-end sound card and gold-plated jack)
2. Bass is important because they will be used for primarily gaming/movies
3. However, the type of music I listen to is solely classical/celtic with acoustic instruments only, so I don't want something that forces a bassy character on all sounds
4. Circumaural is the ONLY design I'm open to. Supra-aural is absolutely out because I hate feeling something pressing on the cartilage of my ears.
As per Mad Lust Envy's review on the best stereo headphones for gaming, (http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-updated-9-2-2013-sony-ma900-added), the Beyerdynamic DT990 made it into the top recommendations. However, I don't believe the T70p existed at the time of this review.
I'm also not sure what is the max impedance that can be used with a direct connection to a laptop (that is, I don't want to deal with an amplifier).
I'm not too sure whether the closed can or open can design would be more appropriate for my list of uses.... I presume there are contradictory needs in this list. If that is the case, please prioritize gaming/movies.
