On my way to my mailbox. Hopefully the box is small enough to fit in there, or I may just find that dreaded pink slip.

Nice... where's that MJpopcorn.gif when you need it. And Unity usually ships with the standard USPS priority box, you should be good.

I put up pics of mine ages ago.

Thanks, I'll make a search using your username.

[Edit:] Found it. But the plastic skirt makes it hard to see what the metal looks like. Could you possibly take another photo?

Does anyone know why the color-coded cross-hatched black cable didn't pan out??

I liked it. :(

Officially it doesn't exist... anyways since you found it I guess it isn't my fault the cat's out of the bag. It didn't come out because the black teflon was inconsistent from batch to batch and the overall quality (the microphonics in particular) of the cable it produced wasn't on par with the white cable.

As for the standard finish, it's basically the finish you see on that black cable ROCKET right there.

Don't they understand that we audiophiles place form over function? We're coming from the Tenore for f***s sake.

Well the ROCKETS weren't made for just audiophiles, they were made with everyone in mind and I'm sure there are people who'd complain about the difference in quality which was something they wanted to avoid.

The amount of concern trolling up in this hizzeezy has hit critical mass, we're now enroute to Poe's Law territory along the troll continuum

Been out of the thread for a few days, catching up:

Yeah, they sound great with the Leckerton UHA-6S MkII, which is probably my favorite portable amp.

Also, wasn't the Auris supposed to launch today on Kickstarter? Kept looking and never saw it...

I use them either with my Arrow 4G (fantastic little portable amp) or just straight out of my Nexus 5. Yes, they are slightly power hungry, but they scale really nicely. So I can't really complain. My Nexus drives them to moderate levels fairly easily. But it isn't something I'd call a complaint, so much as a small annoyance (unless you like going deaf)

Also Eke has them! I need to grab some popcorn now

ROCKETS haven't launched completely and therefore to avoid all incoming rage Auris isn't going to come out just yet.

5am here and I couldn't sleep, so I finally opened the tour package Unity sent my way. Since I have the ASG-2.5 here too, I figured I'd start with the Rockets.

It's been an hour, and I literally cannot make myself stop listening. I've listened to everything from Lee Ritenour and Leonard Cohen, to System of a Down and Biggie Smalls. I'm really ready to declare the Rockets the best phones I've ever heard, but I don't want to be rash. I just can't find anything they do wrong, and there so much they do frickin' right. I may come up with issues later though.

The biggest things about the Rockets that jump out at me are:

1. Wicked texturing and detail. I'm hearing s**t I've never heard in some of my favorite. Details, newly found harmonics, you name it.

2. Wicked clarity

3. Spectacular imaging. It's almost like the Rockets specialize in ambiance.

4. A soundstage that is waaaayyy more open than I expected. Seriously, I fired up some binaural tracks from Chesky's Explorations in Space and Time, and I was floored. I've uploaded a track to     youtube so Rockets owners can behold the awesomeness. You may want to crank the volume a bit:

5. Wicked bass punch and rumble when the song calls for it. Listening to Drake's "All Me", I was surprised by how much and how good the bass is. I'm hearing bass lines that were previously hidden.

6. The best phone I've heard looks kinda like an anal probe and is named "Rocket", not Project XKR437847. And it wasn't marketed to us audiophiles lol. Sigh.

Looking back at the stuff I just typed, I realize I sound a lot like mochill lol.

Screw it...*hits submit*
