Dt990, Dt880 or AKG Q 701? Or none at all?

Thread Starter

Well i'm looking for my first pair of headphones and within these things what would you recommend?

I like Classical and rock mostly, I game alot so it's probably split 50/50 between music and gaming.

I would like open back headphones, Amp is fine as you see by my choice of headphones. I'm assuming an E10 Fiio amp would work well with any of these headphones?

If there is any more you would like to know just tell me.

My max budget is 250$ Lower is always better, I would like in the 200$ range though.

An external USB/DAC/Amp does not comes with any headphone surround sound features.

You could get the Asus Xonar DG ($27) or DGX ($37) sound card.

Sometimes the AKG K612 Pro (120-Ohm) will go on sale for $160.

The usual suspects. I would add senheiser and sony to the list. Headphone is a very personal issue: only you could feel the comfort and soundprint, and the ability of tweaking the sound is relatively small, especially if you are at tight budget. I would buy a used one from the sale section of headfi. If you dont like you can sell it without too much loss.
