FS: Audio-GD Phoenix Balanced Amp and Pre-Amp
Will Ship To: Anywhere
SOLD! Thank you to everyone who inquired -- and thanks to Head-Fi for hosting.
This is your chance to purchase the now-discontinued Audio-Gd Phoenix (purchased new in 2009). I’m enormously fond of it — my main amplifier and pre-amp for many years — but I don’t have as much space as I used to and need to consolidate my gear.
Here’s the original product page. And a link to Skylab’s review (“a world-class headphone amplifier . . . super-enthusiasically recommended”). The Phoenix has one single-ended headphone connection and two balanced connections (4-pin XLR and 3-pin XLR). It's also a great pre-amp that outputs to both RCA and XLR. It comes with a solid metal remote control.
Please Note: There are two versions of the Phoenix. My unit featuress the original design, with two large rotary knobs, one for volume and one for selection. (In later models, the company adopted buttons for each.) I'm a lousy photographer, but I can unbox my unit and take pictures if anyone would like.
The Phoenix is in excellent condition and will come in all the original packaging with all the original connectors. There’s only one flaw that I’m aware of: if you move the rotary volume knob very fast, it will sometimes slip (i.e. won’t register the full range of volume adjustment). I wasn’t aware of that before testing for sale because I’ve always used the remote control. Not a problem if you're adjusting a few decibels at a time, only if you spin it fast.
PRICE DROP: The original retail price was $1200 (plus shipping). I’m looking for $675 shipped free in the continental US (buyer covers Paypal fees).
I’ve been a Head-Fi member for over 8 years (May ’05) and have perfect transaction feedback. No trades please. Thanks for taking a look.
