Fiio e6: worth it?

I'm someone who generally isn't fond of having to use an amp due to the inconvenience compared to a smart phone. Is something small like the e6 enough to give a considerable boost or are you better off buying one that's bigger than your phone for a much larger price? They're "portable" like the fiio e11, but I wouldn't bring that anywhere except in a car ride of 5+hours.

It's pretty basic with 3 Eq settings. Does the job.

Which headphones you have?

I don't like eq's tainting sound, I just want the amplification you know?
I'm using shure se215 with a fiio cable and I'm in the process of choosing a higher end pair of headphones

In this case just use it on Flat (no Eq)

Yeah I would. Does it still do a considerably good job as an amp though?

It does for my full sized (MA900, UE6000, MDR 7506, etc).  Not a huge difference but its a good quality and volume boost, though more of a volume boost.

Rather than turning up the volume on your device? Or does it offer fuller sound at lower volumes?

You could just get a Clip Zip 4GB, Rockbox it, add some Micro-SD memory.

and play all you music from the Clip Zip.

When you buy "higher end" headphones, try to get ones with a low impedance, easier for the Clip Zip to drive.

I own a coby MP3 player. Can that be rockboxed?

Honestly, the E6 doesn't improve SQ much, but it it worth it just for the 3 EQ settings.

If I were you I'd pass. Save a bit more and go for other models for better SQ. I couldn't stand mine and sold it within a week.

I'm not sure if the Coby can be loaded with the Rockbox firmware, but I'm sure the Clip zip offers better sound quality.

Yeah the rock box website doesn't even mention coby. The clip zip probably does, but I'm not using the coby
