Please help me choose a decent set of speakers

Hi,

I am not a audiophile and just looking for some advice, so not sure if this is the correct forum to post to.

I am looking for a good set of speakers for my room to listen to music. I found three speakers that fit within my budget:

1. Audioengine P4 Premium Passive Bookshelf Speakers

2. Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 THX Certified Speaker

3. Timbre TI5 70W - http://www.bajaao.com/shop/238-home-entertainment/235-home-theater-systems/17707-timbre-ti5-70w-hi-fi-active-bookshelf-speakers-december-deal.html

Audioengine P4 and Pro Media 2.1 seems be quite popular if I go by online reviews. I have never heard of Timbre TI5 before and came across it in a local tech magazine.

None of the local stores carry these speakers, so I can not compare them personally.

Can someone here please guide me on which of these to go for. I basically want these for listening to music and not for movies or gaming.

Any other suggestion in addition to these?

Thanks,

Jatinder

Do you require self powered speakers?

I have the promedia 2.1 and it sounds good. Probably I would also include Aego M in that list.

Any suggestions about Logitech Z623? How do they compare to Klipsch Promedia 2.1

These speakers plus a cheap amp. Pioneer SP-BS41. On special at Newegg. Well reviewed and cheaper right now then their SP-BS22 little brothers. Might be able to find them at Best Buy too if you want to hear them. BBY will price match. Maybe throw in a Dayton 12" sub for a cheap 2.1 setup if you feel you're lacking bass. For music I think they will do you better with something other than the Logitech or Promedia depending on what you're used too. That said I used Klipsch Promedia 4.1 (yes, 4.1 not a typo) for many years happily until I upgraded to a little more hifi setup.
