What setting should I be using and if my music is in 16 bit and 44.1k would there be any effects setting it to 96k?

Supposedly if you want your system to run the smoothest 24 bit, 48000 Hz is preferred.

Depends on what this setting does and in what all it effects (does it define the output format for S/PDIF port (what happens for sources that are not equal with this set format (SRC?, dither?)), or something else)?

i was told to select the bit depth and sample rate and matches most of your music files. Since upsampling does not improve quality.
