Bottlehead Crack + Speedball Upgrade (PRICE DROP) [Located in Canada, Shipping Internationally!]
Will Ship To: United States, Canada, Australia, Some of Western Europe
I am selling my Bottlehead Crack with Speedball upgrade. I used it to power my HD650s for about a month or two this summer, and then I upgraded to a pair of Audez'e LCD-2.2s. With the 2.2s, the Bottlehead Crack just wasn't an appropriate amplifier anymore because it's an OTL.
Works perfectly and sounds great. I've sold my HD650s already, and I was anticipating an HD800, but it doesn't look like I'll be getting those this holiday season, so I am letting go of my Crack + Speedball.
The picture depicts the amp with a Tung Sol 5998 tube. This was a custom tube which has been sold separately. Yours will come with a Raytheon 6080 tube.
Full disclosure since this is a completed DIY product:
1. I declare that the amp is in fully working order and that it worked and powered my pair of HD650s adequately.
2. Since it is a fully discrete amp and DIY, parts may shift around during shipping. Given the delicate nature of the components, it might need some tweaking when to you (but probably not). However, the device is working perfectly for me.
3. It was constructed by me and a friend who is currently in an engineering program. However, again, it was not assembled by professionals and if you choose to buy, you understand this. However, be assured that it does work, and it worked splendidly with my HD650s.
The base is fully disassembled and was never stained, so you may treat it with whatever stain you like. It was always held up by masking tape in case I wanted to repackage it. This means that the wood base pieces are just like they came when I received them from Bottlehead! This is a good thing if you're into customizing and for the shipping process!
If you are worried, as of the time of this posting, I have perfect +11 reputation. All I can do to assure you is that it is in working order for me and powered my HD650s this summer.
