A little guidance

Ladies and gentlemen of head-fi, greetings. I am new to these boards and would first like to say thank you for the wealth of knowledge and data you have all contributed to over the years. I have learned everything I know thanks to the well of knowledge here.

I have a question that I'm hoping someone out there will be kind enough to help me with. First off, my primary source of music comes from my I device. I do not have any kind of LOD or anything fancy, but I am amplifying my iem (klipsch s4) to very satisfying results using strictly ALAC files run thru the 3.5 jack into a fiio e6. I own two pair of Grados (sr80i and the wonderful sr325is) that I find fairly easy to feed with same setup, however I have a pair of LCD -2 that do not drive particularly well in this configuration.

I recently purchased a Nakamichi cdp-2a with the TDP1451A DAC built in, and play cd's while listening out of the headphone out port on front panel of unit. I bought it strictly to try and spend time enjoying the LCD 's. I am not getting very desirable sound quality out of the headphone out, is this to be expected? My intention is to somehow run my LCD -2(rev 2) and enjoy some home cd listening. In your experiences , will I need to link up an amplifier to drive my headphones properly ? Will the sound quality be better coming out of the RCA 's rather than the headphone jack in front panel? I know according to lampizator.po (polish I believe) site that this cd unit is of decent audio quality, and I would really love it if you would recommend a way to unleash its potential for my headphones to utilize.

Long story short, for my mobile setup I'm thinking of an ALO pan am. Would I be able to also use the pan am with my cdp2-a somehow and achieve good results? Any and all suggestions from this community is greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to read my long post. I'm frustrated in knowing I own some pretty good cans, but cannot hear their potential due to lack of proper components. At least I started off on the right foot with proper file fidelity I suppose. Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you all. Thank you kindly.

Donovan.

Most of the time, headphone out from desktop amplifier/CD player isn't good. Like 90% of them are drawing the power from main output and use resistors to bring down the volume so that it can be used with the headphones. Connect CD player lineout -> filo -> headphones is the best way for your situation.
