can you describe more about your requirements?

are you looking for open/closed design? home or office use?  which sources do you connect your headphones? what kind of sound quality do you want? more bass, wider soundstage?

I want open headphones for home use and im planning on buying an amp when i buy my headset and a dac in the future.

I like a deep smooth sound with a deep bass, but i dont want it to take over to much.

I listen to a lot of music so I want good quality and comfort, a wide soundstage would be nice.

x1 what? and can you tell me why and what u tried? cant really use that answer...

well, here you can get suggestions, then you have to do research before you buy a headphone.

I considered x1 before buying HE 400, because I wanted to buy a headphone with wider soundstage and decent amount of bass. I was suggested to consider x1. But I bought He 400.

I did a lot of research and Im leaning towards sennheiser hd 650 but I dont know if they are too dark sounding, have u listen to them and how do they compare with He 400.

Btw why did u go for HE400 over x1 and are u glad with HE400

According to this review (http://www.head-fi.org/t/634201/battle-of-the-flagships-58-headphones-compared-update-audeze-lcd-2-revision-2-6-4-13#user_HE400), HE 400 got A+ and HD 650 got A. I have not listened to HD 650.

I chose HE 400, because they are planar and fun sounding phones. I am pleased about my choice.

i think you should get the HE-400s, i also own them and they will probably match your music preference better than the HD650s.
