Hear loss - Your thoughts?

There's no way. High music volume brings you to another dimensions, however you're spoiling your ears!

There are many articles and warnings on hear loss, such as this one: http://www.johnjaysentinel.com/2013/05/10/headphone-danger-is-anyone-listening/

How do you cope listening music, maybe for hours, at the "proper" volume?

In my experience I have noticed that it's an environment matter: the more noisy, the more it needs pumping up volume for the "proper" music experience. A trick could be to sacrifice music experience when in noisy environments (outdoors), renouncing to louder music. Keep the proper experience in quiet environments, where lower volumes will suffice. Probably triple tips will help..

If you are in a noisy environment, then you need 'phones with a higher level of isolation. This is where the IEM excels.

All things in moderation.

The thing is that often you adjust volume to a particular value and after a while you increase volume because you got used to it.
