I made a post previously which was a bit off the actual question. I have bought a dynamic mic (Behringer XM8500) and it's barely being picked up by my system (only if I max volume and give it a max boost of +30dB would anything happen). At this point I'm thinking I need some help on how to get this thing working on my PC properly.
So, I figured I'll be needing a pre-amplifier to make that 1/1000th Volt (or whatever) signal into something useable for the sound card. Would the ART Tube MP Preamp be a good choice? I can't spare too much money, so will only buy what's necessary, provided I get a decent result from it all.

I've read somewhere I'll need an audio interface in addition... is that necessary? I was personally thinking of using my Behringer XM8500 ->(XLR Male to XLR Female) -> ART Tube -> (XLR Male to 1/8") -> PC Back Panel 'Mic In'. (Integrated sound card).
Am I being stupid or would that work? If I need an audio interface, what would be a good cheap one available in europe?
