How to connect both speakers and headphones at the same time ?

so I have an asus xonar ds sound card, and my speakers are connected into it all the time, 5.1 speakers, and I want to connect my headphones(+mic) without plugging in and out every time.

What are your suggestions exactly ?

Also would a USB headphone splitter like this work : http://www.amazon.com/Syba-SD-CM-UAUD-Adapter-C-Media-Chipset/dp/B001MSS6CS/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Now my question is, if I connect my headphones to this, will the source be my sound card or the splitter ? and will the difference in sound be drastic ?

Thanks.

Hook the Xonar DS to the computer case's front headphone port, plug headphones into front of case headphone jack.

Use the Xonar's control panel for switching between the Audio Output "Speaker" and "FP Headphone".

Ok I did exactly that, then deleted and installed the driver again, and switched for FP headphone, and still no sound coming out of the headphones, I also tried 2 different headphones.
