Headphone recs for gaming >> music. 200-300 USD price point.

Hi guys/gals,

I've read so many threads that my eyes are bleeding and I think I'm getting a lost/overwhelmed by information overload.

I will use these only in my office, primarily for gaming and some music.  I play mostly Battlefield 4 (90%) with some RTS/MOBA mixed in. I listen to pretty much all genres except rap/hip-hop type stuff.  Mostly EDM, chillout or trance.  Looking to spend 200-300 USD. Likely will drive them with a sound blaster omni surround 5.1 ( Like the inputs on it and can connect my Klipsch 4.1system to it.)

I've narrowed it down ( I think ) to these thanks to Mad Lust Envy's thread so thanks to them for the info.

Beyer Dynamic DT 990 Premium (either 32 or 250 ohm).

Sony Sony MA900

My main concern is the bass response.  I like bass, not necessarily to the point where I'm rattled and it gets in the way of everything else but I like it to be present if that makes sense.  For that reason I'm leaning toward the DT990s.  Maybe I should consider the Philips Fidelio X1?

Would like some imput from anyone who has used these models.  Also other recs would be welcome.

Another question.  I'm gonna pair this with a Modmic when v4 comes out.  I do some twitch.tv streaming.  Will open backs cause significan bleed issues with a mic such as that?

Thanks much.

I'm going to guess the MA900 mid range is a little better then the DT990s.

The DT990s are full bass and full treble, which slightly overshadows the mids, but the mids are clear.

I like using my DT990 Premium 600-Ohms for watching Blu-ray action movies

But from what I heard about the MA900 is they are the kind of headphones you can wear for hours and hours.

So I vote MA900s.

Thanks for imput.  One thing I'm worried about is the MA900s not having enough base.

This may be a case of I'll just have to order a few pair and see which I prefer and return the others.  Not ideal but I'm not sure how else I could decide.
