Yup I forgot the budget thingy = =

The calendar itself was pretty much within the budget I think, as for the fukubukuro...well, just some random addon :P

Day 42: still no sight of Santa. Damn you Malaysian border control and air space defence.

The budget was $30? I thought it was $15, so I tried not to go too much above it and kept it as cheap as international shipping would allow.

Now I feel somewhat guilty. Could have gotten nicer things for the good Knight.

Ah well, next year I should be in Japan around this time of the year, so I can get Japanese stuff for cheaps. (if we're doing this next year, that is. I vote 'yes' of course)

I would have gotten you Volume 1, but that one was more expensive/more rare, and it felt weird giving volume 2 or 3 or something. So I decided to go with the college version, since that one was easy to find, and chances would be that you haven't read that one either.

I have only finished one manga series so far, and number of titles I've at least finished a volume is not more than five. Plus that all these happened before I getting into anime. So its actually very safe to send me any manga XD

I did not know that ;P
All I knew was that you didn't have a physical collection of manga.

I paid around $60 for presents+shipping....anime merch is just expensive like that here.
Hasn't arrived at my SSs house yet, though :'(
I guess I'll just buy the same things again and send it again if it ultimately goes missing.

Good luck bro xD

It probably will delay it, but as long as it doesn't get lost you have hope!

If you guys wish to do this next time, I highly suggest the follow ways to reduce costs as I have said previously:

  1. Using Ebay or another international service, to send goods from HK/China/Japan directly to them. Ebay goods from HK/CN to most countries is very very nominal in shipping cost.
  2. Using another AAMML member in a country near them or in them or with the same system(EU) as a proxy to order goods
  3. If possible, using their own countries Amazon or online service to order directly to their home. Using Google translate, and a proxy if needed to send the good that way. OR see option #2 and use a combo of #2 and #3 as a way to send a good.

Examples using each point above respectively to the examples below:

  1. I go on Ebay, and bought Eve a present from HK/CN. The seller shipped from their country internationally to Eve. Shipping costs were close to none
  2. Say my SS was in a country X in the EU. I would (after exhausting easier options or other prefered options) ask another AAMML member that lives in the EU to buy the good that I see online and have it sent to my SS. I then paypal him.
  3. Say my SS was in a country X in the EU. I would try to access the Amazon site of their specific country or region. If this isn't possible, I may try using a proxy to see if it will give me access. Then I would see if the google translator and all that is good enough for me to purchase and send my good to my SS. If at any point that I am stuck, I would ask another AAMML member that understands the language for some lingual assistance. If at any of these 'point's, I shall become stuck. Diverting to option 2 is also good.

We have enough AAMML members in enough 'nearby' countries to make this work for most scenarios.

Well there's actually a reason why I like to send stuff personally:

-I can be sure that the product is in good condition prior to receiving.

-I can assure that the product will be sent in a way to avoid customs and import fees. (super low cost declaration among others some sellers might not abide to)

But yeah, namely #2. Not sure how my SS sent me the stuff, via Amazon or what, but I know at least I didn't get charged customs fee. Which is good! Over here we get taxed on gifts and commercial items alike, but different thresholds.
