Hello! This is my first post on Head-fi.

So i few months back my Creative Aurvana Live! broke because one of the ears stopped working so I've been trying to better headphones to buy. I've been looking at the Sennheiser HD 598's since i heard that its good at acoustics, and I mainly listen to jazz(Miles Davis, John Coltrane), some rock(Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd) and some classical(Beethoven). So should I get them or there better headphones for jazz (beyerdynamic, grado, akg)that are around the HD 598's price, which is like $200. I am also planning to get a fiio e9 amp and once i get enough money then a e7 for a dac. My budget for the amp+headphone is $350. I am just going to use it at home on my desktop. I am strongly considering getting those but I am very open to suggestions from more experienced audiophiles then me(I'm a newb).

Other good cans in that price range are the Sony MDR-MA 900 and Audio Technica ATH-AD900X.

+1 on those two.

The Senn HD558 ($128.50) uses the same driver as the HD598 and is cheaper.

I would say to get the Schiit Magni headphone amplifier, $99.

Guess you have time to choose a DAC.
