Try folding the felt star outwards so you expose more driver. But to get full effect, I think you've gotta take them completely off.

Is that your Pioneer that I spy in photo? I hope to have my sx1280 back from the restoration sometime next week. It's been a long time coming.

Yup, mines beginning rehab soon since I have the emotiva now. Gonna gut her out, then, she will defeat the emotiva! I think I'm gonna pre amp her with a bottlehead quickie too.

Mini-X? Does it pair well with the HE4? I'm looking into one to test and compare to the Audio GD NFB10SE balanced onboard amp.

If you have more money buy an ember according to thujone, whom I have full trust in. Unfortunately, I don't. Well I do, but not for audio, stupid wife's interests taking my bifrost money! But yes the emotiva mini x does well with the 4, even my magnums, with background noise though. But ill make resistors for them.

Does the HE4 pair well with the Emotiva Mini-X? And if an Ember is better, want to sell me your Emotiva so you can get an Ember?

See what I did there? Lol :L3000:

My HE-400s match up to what your post says pretty well, AMAZING bass representation, but a slight treble spike that can easily be EQed out however. Thanks for making a thread that compares them to the other two HFM cans.

Well. I can't figure out how to take these things apart... I have been wanting to take some photos since they do have a different damping setup that your guy's.

Why do you need to take the driver out of the cups on the HE400? Those don't have the star felt and just simply need to remove the grill to replace with a more open grill or just run without a grill.

Didn't read anything about the he4. You're psychic?
