Entirely different.  Although both bear the Denon name, they are not made by the same company.  Fostex made the D2000, D5000 & D7000.  I don't know who makes the newer and lesser line.

In any case they are long gone.

I believe he's asking for comparisons to the fostex TH600, not the Denon d600.

Wow that's one hell of a price gap between those two Fostex made models.

Maybe the D5000 or D7000 vs. the TH600 would be much closer to "apples to apples".

But nobody mentioned where. For all we know this could be a local shop that's having a sale in another country. I don't think edits are necessary in this situation.

I agree, let's not let this get out of hand.  There are plenty of places one can find deals on things.  I got my Q701 at a local pawn shop.  I wasn't about to post that on the deals thread, but I'd feel fine asking if that "deal" was worthwhile.  (Of course, I probably would have asked in the Q701 thread...)

This is a great thread.  I get that there are forum rules, but let's not get carried away such that it's militant and inevitably nonsensical.  That's no fun and it detracts from all the good info that has and will be posted here...

Thanks for all the useful posts to date...makes me appreciate head-fi!

For those who are unaware of the history, we have had multiple "deals" closed by mods for violation of forum rules.  In this case the rule is a prohibition of making even indirect references pertaining to certain types of sites and their products/prices.  What some might characterize as "militant", at least some of us think is important to assure that another "deals" thread is not a casualty.

Yep, I think we went up to Deals Thread IV.

I can't argue history...just didn't see any of that here earlier today.  Don't want to get into a pissing match about it...but also don't see the need for overzealous self-moderating.  Seen too many forums go to seed like that.

Guys, when it comes to those other "references" we do need to be militant. If not, say goodbye to this thread. That's about the only area we have to be militant and where I agree with a little self moderation... for good reason.
