Thinking about new headphones... opinions?

Thread Starter

Hello all, I've been lurking these forums a bit, and need an opinion on what headphones I should get next. Right now I have senheiser hd 280's, which I like a lot, but I'm thinking about an upgrade. I mostly just use them for listening on my phone and computer, and occasionally mix electronic music... I've had my senheisers for quite a few years, so the earpads are falling apart a bit, and I want to go up a notch in quality. I'm thinking about the logitech ue 6000s or 9000s (9000s are looking awfully nice because of their wireless connection, but are pretty expensive too). I want something that has good sound quality and bass, noise cancels at least a little bit, and doesn't leak sound too much (and preferably looks cool too :P ). What do you think, any suggestions?

Thanks! (sorry if I'm posting in the wrong spot, this is my first post here)

Hi,

You should consider:

Shure SRH-840

Overall pretty neutral headphones with great detail. Also extra pads and detacheable cable.

If you want something cheaper:

Gemini HSR-1000 (Takstar Pro 80)

Simply amazing sound and built quality at its price point.

Best Luck!

@$100, the ue6000 would be perfect for you if you are on a budget. Stylish white, closed/portable, noise-cancelling, solid bass, mic-on-cord, foldable. Can't do better for features/style at that price. The V-Moda LP can be found at sub-$100, but they are extremely bass-heavy. ATH M50 is a classic recommendation at $100.

This kind of depends on your budget though? How far up are you willing to go because you can always find a solid upgrade if you jump a bit in price up until you get to $300. Of course, some headphones are more worth their price than others & the SQ of $300 headphones isn't actually triple as good as some solid $100-200 headphones =P

At $200, you can consider the AKG K545 (razerdogaudio sale) vs Sony MDR-1R (sub-$200)
