For Sale:
TBI Millenia MG3 speaker amp + resistor box (to drive headphones!)

Will Ship To: CONUS

I'm considering giving e-stat's another shot.. so it's time to make some room.

For sale is my TBI Millenia.  I'm not going to comment too much on the sound of this terrific amp since there's quite a bit of info out there already on it.  Read all about what makes this wonderful little amp very special at the product page link.  AudioCircle has a tour thread here and PositiveFeedback has an informative review here.  Our very own Gary in MD had a "speaker amp for headphones" shootout (among various amps) in this thread and his impressions with the Millenia (which finished second only to the $1K+ Cyclops) are what drove me to get this amp from TBI.  Search for "Millenia" in that thread and comb through the results from around early September for Gary's reviews... as and others that followed.  After having spent a significant amount of time with the Millenia, I wholeheartedly agree with his finding.  Another member, Zilch0md, also has the Millenia (in a fancy, portable setup) and has found a ton of success using it to drive his LCD-2.. he's commented quite a bit on it there, too.

My Millenia comes with a custom designed resistor box, too.  I sent my HD800 to Jan Plummer (maker of the Millenia) and he devised a resistor network (in a small, neatly encased 'black box') that enabled the Millenia to see its ideal impedance load for where it performs best (8 ohms.. like most speaker amps), eliminate hiss, and shelve down the amp's power output so a larger amount of the volume pot can be used for low volume listening.  I've used the Millenia + resistor box with the HD600, HD800, and HE-500.. and it's worked wonderfully with all of them... so there's no reason to think it wouldn't work well with other popular planars (LCDs, T50RPs, etc.).  If you've got the necessary cables/interconnects, I'm certain you can drive many more headphones (dynamics included) with this amp/resistor box, as well!

Even better: the resistor box can be used with other speaker amps, too.  I had a small class-T speaker amp and when I hooked the HE-500 up it's speaker taps directly, I was met with a lot of hiss and practically no travel on the pot before it got uncomfortably loud.  Tossing the resistor box in between the HE-500 & amp completely mitigated the issues:  no hiss, plenty of travel on the pot.. and with the amp seeing an 8 ohm load, the class-T amp sounded noticeably better than with the HE-500 driven directly off the taps.

My Millenia is a new unit (not demo) in mint condition & comes with all original accessories.. and will be shipped in the original packaging.  I'm the first/only owner and purchased everything directly from TBI/Jan (receipt will be included).  The Millenia + resistor box costed me $620/shipped (Millenia = $500, resistor box = $100, shipping = $20).

Pics added.  The last two pics show the Millenia+resistor box stacked on the Violectric V800.. to indicate just how compact this combo looks.

Terms of sale

-At the moment, I am not considering selling the resistor box separately.  Though I will sell the Millenia w/o the resistor box.  If you're interested in the Millenia alone, knock $100 off the listed price.

-Price listed includes shipping.

-PayPal payment to be made as a gift (or add 3% to listed price).

-No trades.

-Price listed is firm.  I feel I'm offering this very highly regarded amp at a generous discount.

Waiting for the pics, and do you know if the TBI Millenia MG3 support 220V input?

Besides, what's the warrany terms from where you bought it?

Thank you FlySweep.

I assume I'd need a different resistor box to use this with my LCD-X, since its impedance is much lower than the HD800.  Do you know if that's the case?  From what I understand, Jan builds the box according to the 'phones.

Also, does this include the power supply?

After I had Jan tune the resistor box for use with the HD800, I got an HE-500 (which has lower sensitivity & (significantly) lower impedance than the HD800).. and it sounded terrific with the same "HD800 friendly" resistor box, so I doubt a new resistor box would be necessary.  I tested this by running the HE-500 directly off the MG3's speaker taps vs the resistor box and didn't observe tonal differences.  I'm sure Jan would accommodate altering the resistor box if need be, btw.

My Millenia includes all original accessories.. the power supply, power cable, etc.  It'll arrive just like how I received it from TBI.

I *might* even toss in the (white) speaker cable interconnects (pictured between the resistor box & Millenia) for free.. they're an excellent quality pair from Blue Jeans Cable Co.  The banana plug-to-mini XLR interconnect (connected to the resistor box in the pictures) is from Charleston Cable Company (and uses the C3 hookup wire) and isn't included.. but it may be available for an additional cost.

Hi Vincent.. Jan got back to me:

---------------------------

Hello,

The SMPS only needs the proper AC adapter for the local area used. It will operate with any voltage from 90v-240v.  The one year warranty is for the original owners protection.

Regards,

Jan

So.. the Millenia should work worldwide.. provided you've got the proper AC adapter.  Bummer about the warranty not extending to a second owner.. but I can say the Millenia appears to be built very well from an external/durability standpoint.  I'd feel confident in assuming it's solid on the inside, as well.. I've had no issues whatsoever with it.

Do note I'd prefer to ship this in the CONUS.. just cause I don't want to risk any issues with international shipping.  That being said, if someone residing outside the CONUS is really interested in it, I might be able to accommodate.  Int'l Buyer will be responsible for insurance (if desired) & we can work out int'l shipping (I'll cover some of it.. not all).
