Need help finding earphones for rock/metal

Hey guys, been a lurker here for awhile, just made an account today.  I've browsed the forums quite a bit and I still haven't quite seen a definite answer to my question.

So, first of all, let me make it clear that I'm kind of a "noob" when it comes to headphones, so I don't know much of the terminology and such.

Anyways...What is the best pair of IN-EAR headphones I can purchase that are good for rock/metal music?  I want at least decent noise-cancellation, although it's not a huge worry of mine.  I'm looking to spend somewhere between $60-$100 (but suggestions slightly out of this price range are welcome).  Bands I listen to include Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Alice in Chains, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What I read is noise-cancellation technology degrades the SQ. It's better to go for noise isolation.

I would suggest the Vsonic GR07BE for about $130. I just got them, they are fantastic.

Hi,

You should also consider Yamaha EPH-100.

Best Luck!

Ok, thanks for the suggestions so far guys. And yeah, I think noise-isolation is actually what I wanted.

More suggestions are still welcome:)

A few more suggestions:

  1. Hisound Audio BA100

  3. Hifiman RE-400
  4. Vsonic VSD1

Those are all great suggestions, all of them have a ton of positive reviews. From what you guys have said, I've narrowed it down to the Yamahas, Hifisounds, Rock-its, and Hifimans (not a big fan of the vsonics).

But where do I go from there? Which of these would best fit my music taste?

What type of sound signature do you like? How come you don't like Vsonics?

Although I don't know much about sound signatures, I would say I prefer Balanced.

The look of the vsonics turned me off a little, but if you strongly recommend them I'll look into them more and give them a chance.

The Vsonics I agree looks kind of ugly but the SQ is brilliant. The RE-400 are supposed to be quite balanced. If you like very good sub-bass and treble extension, you will like the T-Peos H-100. I just couldn't stand it's very V shaped signature and the lack of mids but it's rated as a balanced IEM.
