I hope to make it to the meet Saturday.  I will bring my modified Sennheiser Hd 650's with a 1 1/2" circular cutout of the foam that lays in front of the drivers.  I think this simple modification has made the HD 650 about 40% better.  I always felt that the sound of the HD 650's was a bit muffled and dull, with reduced treble extension.  I also felt it did not have a lively ambience.  This simple cutout modification solved both these problems perfectly for me.  It opened up the top and increased the ambience characteristics.  I will bring 7 plastic bottle caps that I used to make the modification for anyone who wants them to use as a template.  You simply remove the earpads and the foam, place the earpads on a magazine or piece of wood and center the bottle cap on the foam.  Then take a tiny slot screw driver or X-Acto knife and push through the foam all around the circumference of the bottle cap.  To me, the 1 1/2" size cutout provides the perfect amount of reflectivity and frequency spectrum.  If you want, you could play it safe and try a 1" cut out first and then increase to the 1 1/2" size if you want a little more of what the modification is doing, though I think 1 1/2 " is just perfect.  I am 85% sure I will be there so you can check it out.

I am sure Headamp will have the 009s with the BHSE on display

Any idea if Justin is bringing two BHSE again this time?

I'd love to compare 009/bhse with stock and psvane el34ph tubes.
I am halfway through the first 50 hours and am not hearing the big improvements others have reports with the psvane tubes.

If this doesn't change by Friday, I'm going to put the stock tubes back in and see if my medium term memory is accurate or not.

I could bring the el34ph tubes to the meet also.

Even if not side by side, I'd love to listen to el34ph in my blue hawaii if you bring them. I'm exceedingly skeptical about them but would certainly give it a shot.

LampizatOr will still be making an appearance at this show by means of the other North-American Co-Distributor, however I will unfortunately be called away out of state and unable to make the event.

I'm interested in the other Stax setup up SR-X07 or the X04 series, to do a comparison if possible.  It would be nice if some people can bring high-end iems with some high-end sources/amps for comparison.  I would like to compare if my ODAC/O2 compbo can be beat with another portable device.  Last time at a meet I've listened to the Ultrasone edition 8, and I'm on the fence on if I want to purchase them, I would like to see them also.

Thank you,

SE

I will be attending on Saturday, and I’m looking forward to listening to the mod for the Sony HAP-Z1ES that Vinnie (Red Wine Audio) has been working on.  I’ve been focused much more on DSD of late.  To that end, I will bring a ModWright Oppo BDP-105 for comparison.  I’ll also bring a Headroom Balanced Ultra Amp, RWA Audeze Edition DAC/Amp and a pair of LCD3 and HD800 headphones.  I also have a few DSD files on my MacBook that I could play with Audirvana to any DSD capable DACS, and would love the opportunity to try.  My ModWright/Oppo is not a Darbee Edition, so while I can play from a connected disk, I can’t use it as a DAC via USB.I'm curious, will the LamizatOr be able to playback DSD, or is that option not installed?
