Sony MDR-V55 alternatives, which will be comfortable?

Thread Starter

I got a MDR-V55 with a Bravia I bought recently, and I love the sound of this unit. It's clear, the bass is just perfect and the overall sound is very detailed. I completely stopped using my XB300. But everything can't be good at a time, and it's the comfort factor which is killing me. My ears are kinda big and I play games for long sessions (3-6 hours) and this thing hurts me pretty badly. Still I am not going back to XB300 again.

So I was wondering what other alternatives of this are out there, at same price point, with same sound sig, especially the bass, which will be comfortable for long sessions? A closed can is preferred, and over the ear would be the choice, as it gives me max sound, max noise cancellation will also be important.

Thanks in advance.

Hello!!

Unfortunately I do not have any alternatives, but I do have a "mod" you can do for them! (Weeeeelllll... this sorta only works if you have spare Sony MDR V6's lying around with velour pads lol). Honestly I think if you can find some velour pads that fit the earcups, you'll be much happier. But, I had to put cotton pads/paper towels under the earcup to get more bass, because when I put on the Sony pads, the bass was reduced. I'll just link you the thread I did for my "mod": http://www.head-fi.org/t/685515/sony-mdr-v55-mod

Good luck!!!!
