Which DAP should a this newbie buy?

So guys, my 80GB iMOD just died on me and just shows the sad ipod logo and I am in desperate need for a new DAP but man, there are just so many to choose from!

ATM I have a few in mind and they are:

Fiio X3

iBasso DX50

Sansa Fuze V1

Cowon J3

'nother iMod?

I just need something that can play FLAC, has long battery life, has an SD card slot and obviously one that sounds great. Oh and if anyone has any of these for sale, let me know I might want to bite the bullet if you have something for me.

Cheers!

Maybe your HDD died on the iMod. You could get a tarken adaptor and instead of compact flash card, use a compact flash to SD card adaptor and put a 128GB SD card. That's what I have in my iMod. Just a suggestion.

iso300and8, I feel you.  There are so many DAP options and none of them seem ideal.  Plus, it's hard to find info on them because they're often smaller brands with websites that aren't the most helpful when it comes to handing out info... and then head-fi threads tend to be 300+ pages each.

What are you looking for in terms of...

-gapless playback

-high-res (> 16-bit/48khz) formats

-onboard and expandable storage

-true line out

-digital out

-navigation via id3tag versus browsing files

-price

etc?

To be honest, i dont know what either of those are lol.. I just know what kbps is. I obviously want a high quality sounding dap but i dont know which to choose from... All i know is that cowon players have a good equaliser with jet effect and that wouod be helpful for me rather than a generic equaliser...

Wait a couple of months and get a Fiio X5. I predict it will be the best bang for buck around.

I cant wait haha but I will look into that thanks.

I actually bought two DAPs, one rig for the gym which I can throw around and not care, well care but y'know not babying them lol and the other rig is for when I am travelling and such where I want the best sound :D. For the gym rig I bought a Sansa Fuze and gonna use it with my SE215s and my portable rig will consist of a DIYMOD hooked up to a headstage arrow 12HE which is running my beautiful Astrotec AX60's.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, appreciate it!

If you want to sell the dead iMod, send me a pm. I'd like to try and revive it. Make a good gift or something I can keep in the car.
