I listen to a lot of rock and metal through my iBasso DX50.  I have both the Philips 3590 and Audio Technica CLR100's you mention, as well as a few others from Brainwavz, MEElectronics, V-Moda, Monoprice, and the HifiMan RE-400's.

The Audio Tehnica CLR100's sound better than all of them, and by a significant margin.  After just 8-10 hours of burn in, they open up and sound amazing.

The difference in performance between the $14 CLR-100's and the $99 RE-400's is so vast, that I'm concerned that my RE-400's might be defective.

In short, don't even think twice about it.  Go to your nearest Staples store tomorrow morning and plunk down the $14 for the CLR-100's.
