New to headphone scene, AKG K702 Annie's?

Hi Head-fi,

I've recently begun looking into over-ear headphones as an alternative to my koss porta-pros (which are a nice portable set, but I would like something for use at home).  I saw the AKG K702 Annie and loved the design, and it was mentioned in many of the recommendation guides you guys have on this site (which are amazing).

However, the posts that I read seemed a bit dated, and I wanted to know if the AKG K702 Annie was still a good buy at this point in time for around $388 (cheapest I could find - on ebay).

If not, what suggestions would you guys give for around the same price that have the same comfort ratings as the AKG Annie's, as I will be gaming/using them for extended periods of time.

Second question.  I have a Xonar DX currently installed into my computer.  Is this enough to drive some of these higher-end headphones?

Thank you so much for your time and efforts, and sorry if I missed any community rules.  I look forward to hearing from you guys!

There are some K712s on sale on ebay currently. I just made an offer to the razordogaudio and was accepted. The price is significantly lower than $388. I mean, if you don't care that the Annies being a 'limited' version, then the sound of K712 should be quite similar (with a tad more bass I believe) and the design is almost identical (with different colors, that is).

AKG is used to stick a high price tag for their new products...

But I'm not familiar with your source so can't really tell if that would be an ideal pairing. But the Annies (or K712s) should be relatively easy to pair with. You could of course always decide to upgrade the source some day to get more juice for them...
