The FiiO X1 Discussion and Help and Support Thread |192K/24B|100mW | LO | inline remote - Page 193

So I discovered something new today. My Fiio X1 can do something which my DX90 cannot!

I have a few DTS 5.1 wav files and they give out only white noise on the DX90. Imagine my surprise when the little warrior X1 could play these perfectly!!!!

It's warmer than the Ipods and has more weight in the bass on headphones. From line out it's even better. The output direct from the headphone socket is also a bit more robust in sound. It provides a little more volume for those headphones that are on the cusp of being too soft on the IPod.

The Ipod interface is better I think, but sound is more important to me. I hate using ITunes and everything is so slow with Ipods and computers when you have a lot of files. I much prefer drag and drop.

I'm really pleased with the X1 although it has its own set of quirks too. At its price, it's a great performer.

Yeah, I use freeware ipod manager to manage my songs, both on my 120/30GB classics......its easy and nothing fancy to load just songs related, thus saves time.....

Just to be absolutely certain after all this talk about sd-cards.. My Sandisk 64gb microSDXC class 10 should work without problems? Just stick it in the player and let it format the card, then add my music afterwards?

You should be quite safe with a Sandisk card as long as you bought it from a reputable supplier.

It's that easy as long as you have a genuine card. smily_headphones1.gif

Thanks! The card seems legit. Amazon was selling it directly, the price was hefty-ish, and the card looks like the real deal too. I'll probably receive the X1 next week, then it's time to enjoy all the portable goodness.

Any SD cards purchased anywhere online no matter who from or if the deal is good or not, I highly recommend that you test it with H2testw. Free download online. These shifty suppliers in this world will sell to anyone that's willing to buy. Then those buyers not knowing if they are the real desl or not will sell to you on Amazon, eBay etc-
I've seen many fake Sandisk & Samsung cards. They do get around. Just be careful please 😊

My x1 is showing music files as the files' name, is there a way to set it to display as title name instead?

File name kinda screws up my listing order

Wow! That's certainly interesting. Where are the DTS 5.1 wav files from? The reason I ask, is I have several DTS 5.1 CDs (requiring a digital out into a receiver that can decode DTS). In the past, I've imported them into iTunes, to make backup copies. They "play" as white noise in iTunes, but if they're burnt to a CDR, the receiver will decode them, just like the original CD.

Or are the files from DVDs? (DVD-Audio Extractor can create 5.1 files. Interestingly, the Mac will play them (as music, played from the file icon itself), but the iTunes software won't play them).

Anyway, how do they sound thru your X1? Is all the music there (a fold-down of 5.1 to 2 channels)? Or do you just hear the front-left and front-right channels?
