Under a sighted subjective evaluation there will probably be glowing, fuzzy feelings going up and down your spine as you ruminate about all the new depth and soundstage you are hearing from your new toy.

Under a properly volume matched blind test, probably little to none, aside from increased power handling.

Take your pick.

You have to think sansa clip had to cut a few corners to get to that price. 100$ is a very fair price for the x1 and the unit looks very solid and well made. That alone is worth it to me regardless of whether the dac is superior (which I'm sure it is anyway).

This is Jack from TekFX. I don't post here often but wanted to chime in on the X1 shipping situation.

MiccaStore.com in my memory has never advertised anything for pre-order prior to receiving stock. Sometimes a product listing would be enabled on the day that a delivery commitment has been received from UPS/DHL/FedEX, but no earlier than that. We all see from posts on forums like this one the anticipation and frustration that customers go through during a pre-order process - not knowing where you are on the wait list, whether the first shipment will cover your order, which other shop may get inventory faster, etc. Micca Store doesn't want to cause this type of frustration so products are never put on pre-order. When you see something is listed as "In Stock", that means it's there and available.

USPS has been getting better at updating product tracking and delivery status. However, the weak point is at package acceptance. Unlike UPS or FedEX who scans all packages upon acceptance, USPS accepts packages and then just sort of leave them in a pile to get scanned in later that day by one of their big sorting machines. So when you see that a package first showed up at USPS at 8:30pm, that package was most likely delivered to or picked up by USPS much earlier than that.

With regards to those who bought from Tinbel on Amazon, not sure if I am allowed to share tweets, but the mods can let me know if I've violated anything, here's a tweet from Tinbel showing a few of the X1's in stock:

I hope this information is helpful to you and helps address some of the concerns voiced thus far.

Jack

I'm not sure whether the dac is superior.  I'm not sure an item Sansa cut corners because it is cheap; build quality on the clip is impressive.. It fills its function ridiculously well.

What the X1 clearly offers is the ability to more easily navigate through potentially 128gb of more options of file formats and affording more power.

I'm looking forward to more impressions and comparisons!

X1 has line out, clip doesn't. For some that's important

Looks like I'm going to have to wait on grabbing this DAP. I just got an iPod mini but I really want this one. I guess guitar takes precedence. If anyone has compared it to the iPod mini it would be nice to hear your opinion.

I am not sure about the DAC but I am sure that X1's SQ is way better (tried it a little myself)! It helps that the X1 has warranty in Singapore unlike the Clip Zip

Yeah it was wrong to make assumptions about the dac. Output power is another factor and build quality looks superior. I have not tried a clip yet.

I'd just wait for headphonebar or headfoneshop. They both expect to have the X1 for sale in a few days, so even if you order it now from MisterTao, you'd probably still get it quicker if you order from either Canadian shops. Plus, you'll have to pay for shipping, MisterTao's commission fee, and potentially custom fees. Up to you though.

My thoughts exactly. Not to mention the hassle if you ever need to get warranty work done.

My cheapness overtakes the impatience somehow. I'll wait. But back to the original question... Anyone ever deal with Mistertao before?

Yes - I'm off for the next 4 days, so I will be posting mine soon - sorry for the delay. I've been terribly busy with work and haven't had a free moment.
