But James seems to be tough sell so....but if FiiO implements that" FiiO Scroll Wheel" idea of mine, then it's all ova' boi!!!

That's very intriguing. Is FiiO really that famous now? I guess I haven't noticed people talking about them outside of head-fi. Unless most of your views are from head-fi?

Yep, T-Shirt :)

Yeah, FiiO has gotten pretty big

FiiO has a huge following if I recall

... review updated, noted metal front/sides and silver finish hard plastic back.  It got a little colder in the house, so I can feel a temperature difference between colder front/sides of the aluminum frame and warmer plastic back.

Yeah, I'm 80% sure the back is plastic. It doesn't have the same feel, scratch feeling, and general look and temperature as the rest of the metal frame is.

Bwah the X1 is here! Good for Fiio! They are gettin uber popular. Hopefully we'll start to see them in the smaller US cities :3

BTW, Blue Mo-Fi on initial impressions sounds pretty good so far on X5. Going to check X3 tomorrow, and wouldn't be surprised if it sounds good on X1 as well.

The Blue Mo-fi seems to be a killer at $350, if it sound good with the X5 , might reconsider changing my whole portable setup

are you saying the x1's sound quality is worse than the iPhone 4s's? anyone else confirming this?

still wondering if the x3 would be the better choice over the x1. coming from ipod nano (rockboxed, 8gb only) and clip+ (got quickly annoyed by the hardware buttons' noises).

If I was you, I would wander around the trade thread, search for good 2nd hand ak100 or some sort of that. But on the x3's price range, there's pretty much no other DAP with the function as complete as the x3. Although the sound is not as good as dacport, but on the factual side, there's no likely other DAP that has function as complete as x3 on its price range. Oh yeah, and the sound on x3 is definitely cleaner than the x1.

is the x1 a worthy upgrade from a sansa clip+?

thanks. but idk, i wanted to pay maximum around 200€ plus memory card. coming from the named devices i guess my requirements arent that high as well.

are there any disadvantages of the x3 in comparison to the x1, besides the price? like battery running time, memory card compatibility or such? is there a comparison x1 to x3 yet anywhere?

It seems to me that comparing a fiio with an iphone suggests using compressed audio in the test. Why purchase a fiio for that? To me the unit is for redbook or resolutions beyond redbook. My x3 sounds fine on the few mp3 files I tested but so does my iphone. But try listening to kind of blue in hi res on an iphone. Using the E07 is cheating of course.

I am interested in the x3 vs. x1 test. Especially because I suspect that fiio will soon kill the x3 so if people want them they better pick them up. My guess is that the product line will over time be just the x1 and the proposed x7. This is not meant as a criticism by the way. If I ran fiio that is what I would do. Rationalizing the product line makes sense

My iPhone 4s/iPod plays 16 BIT ALAC files. I am just upgrading my collection to that standard or above and already own a couple of higher res albums my iPhone fails to play. That's why i want to upgrade.

Just did some slight listening with the X5 and X1 on bassy tracks. (No EQ on both)

The X1 fares a bit poor with bass. It's a bit cleaner, but also very lacking in quantity production.
