No luck, same deal. Did update to 1.4fw, still has issue where transfer rate starts normal, and says 60 seconds, gets to 75%, and says 30 minutes. At 717kb/sec now.

Somethings wrong.

I have tried both cards in my phone, and both work.

Must be bad unit.

Thanks,

john.

Just tried my cheapo Phillips device, no problems there.

Transfer is fine. Like a normal USB flash drive.

Trying to see if it was PC or not.

Do you need service for your unit or can you still exchange it for another X1?

This should be just a specific defect with your unit...

or simply some problematic files. I have had plenty of stuff that would play just fine on a sans clip or on foobar, but would crash or show as error or simply wouldn't show up on other DAPs.

I have well tagged super clean stuff and I can never seem to be able to reproduce the crashes and troubles people get with their DAPs(of any brand). when it's not a fake µSD and not the files themselves, I suspect troubles to be rare.

Hi guys, and thanks for taking time to respond. I have already initiated a return via amazon.
I will purchase another unit to see if same problem exist.

I tried all sorts of files, picking from 63 gb or so of various content over the years.

I work as an audio engineer, and have been through the digital age since 1989, starting with Studer Dyaxis editing machines. I put in over 60hrs a week working with digital audio. That said, you never know, file formats change, OS's change, etc. Still to this day, after more than 25 years immersed in this stuff, I am learning every day.

I really wanted this unit because it was affordable, and it sounded pretty darn good, and I wanted something I could take anywhere and playback mixes on various real world systems, rather than relying on nothing but reference monitors, my B&W;s and my near fields. Plus, if it got trashed, we are talking $100 usd.

I appreciate the help, and I will post back when new unit comes.
Thanks again.
more later,
john

Really impressed how my pair of Grado 325e sound from FiiO X1. They can be a little lean at times, particularly with iBasso units. X1 obviously throttles them back a bit and adds a little weight to the mids. I still stand by saying if you put a relatively good headphone or IEM with X1 it accomplishes more than substantial results. Especially good for calming overly bright gear. I still think the best I ever heard T-Peos H-300 was using this little FiiO. Just mix/matched well.
