- put your SD-card into a reader and delete the files/maps in your card.

- format your card with your pc/laptop. It doesn't matter in which format  FAT32 / FAT16 / NTFS /... It is just for cleaning up your SD card.

- after formatting, put it into your X1 and format your SD card again with your X1 in System settings  (storage formatting). This time your card will be in the correct format, necessary for your player.

- then connect your player with your computer and you will find an empty map where you can put your music.

- disconnect the X1, update your media library in System settings

- and normally everything should be working.

Be aware that your music should be ripped correctly. When you music is not ripped correctly, your device could hang up because it can't read the file (mp3, flac, alac, ...) as it should.

Well I tried this: formatted my SD, then put it in X1, format again, then connected but my pc says that I have to format in order to use it. I try to format but it says unable to complete format :/

Ok, I tried eveything. I even got a new microSD, did the firmware update. I put a few files in the FiiO, all is ok
BUT then I try to put some more and media lib updating although it goes further in the number of files it updates it doesnt give me the message that it was succesful. Then i see the files in browse files but not in category. This is really annoying. I tried reset, deleting them from the SD, updating the library to zero and then again to the files of the SD. Still nothing. It only updates 46 tracks, sometimes it says it updates more but it doesn't.Also, each time I do the media lib update and go to category to see if it's indeed updated then the FiiO stucks, sometimes I get the message that there is no card, sometimes it just stucks and i have to reset it :/
I did the SA Media check, no bad files. All the files i tried come directly from CDs. This is annoying :/

You'll have to try the half and half folder method to see if you can find the file or files causing the problem.

Also get rid of any files not needed such as Artwork, text files etc.

The card formatted successfully in a card reader but not when connected to the PC via the X1? Is this the same card you're using for your music right now?

Insert the card in the X1 and format it.  Connect the X1 to the PC.  Drag your music onto the card that way (not with a card reader).  If it won't read your card after doing that, I'd get another card.

This is so off topic, and I apologize for that, but I am hoping iancraig is still reading. I won an eBay auction for original hd414s and I am driving them with my fiio e11k from a zune120. It has me wondering how an x1 or x5 could drive these babies!

Wow .... I used them in the 70s, I think it was or early 80s!! Loved them to death. I'm not sure of their sensitivity but they were a really good headphone. To look at, their nothing except for the yellow pads which are just about still available.

I can only surmise, but I can't see any problems with the X1 driving them. I think the X5 would be great since they have more power. I'll be interesting to see what you make of them with 'modern' ears.

Nope, since it didn't formatted I decided to use a completely new card. I can see the files in browse files but not in the library as it doesn't update them

maybe faulty unit if same problem comes with new card .

I am supposing u used all the methods people told u above like formatting the card and keeping it inside player while transferring the media files?

Yep, I only transfer when it is in the X1 and always do safe removal. It's also strange that every time I put a file in the card and then I eject, my x1 says "file system not supported" and I can only click back. Then if i go to browse or library it says no TF card and i have to take it out and put it back in. It is really frustrating. I've tried factory reset, formating the cards, updated the firmware. Another strange thing is that some files that work perfectly at a point, after a few library updates they get mixed with other songs :S
