ATH-M50 vs. whatever else. Need recommendations.

So, I'm new to this headphone thing. I've heard only a few headphones, mainly ones at Best Buy or Target that have a display lol. I did buy a pair of ATH-M50s awhile back. I LOVED the sound, but they seemed a little tight to me, and made my ears hot. So, I can only compare cans to the M50s. I'm looking for some cans similar to the M50s in sound, but more comfortable. I LOVE my bass, but cans like the Sony X10/X05...they're just too much: it's muddy, and it drowns out the vocals. I really liked the bass on the M50s. It seemed tight and accurate to me. So here are a few other cans I'm looking at, and if you've listened to them please let me know how they compare sound-wise to the M50s, and how comfortable they are. Thanks!

Denon AH-D600

Shure SRH840

Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro

Philips CitiScape Uptown

Sony MDR-1R

Are you OK with open cans (they leak sound and don't isolate well)?

What equipment will be powering these cans?  Will you be using an amp?

Once again I’ll mention that headphone comfort is a very individual thing.  Sizing and sensitivities are unique to each person.  We can point you to headphones that are generally considered to be comfortable and mention others that have garnered complaints for being uncomfortable.  However, the only way to know for sure is to wear them yourself for a time equivalent to your longest listening session.

I would love to hear some open back cans, but I would like the option of taking them places without bothering people or surrounding noise leaking in.

I will be pushing the cans with my iPhone and HP laptop, that's it.

I would like around-the-ear pads that don't apply a lot of pressure on my head.

Has anyone heard the Beyerdynamic CUSTOM ONE PRO or the AKG K267? I really like the idea of a bass port for when I'm listening to different types of music.

Anyone have the Audio Technica ATH-PRO700MK2? How's the bass on them?
