I have dL'd the newest firmware___do I place the entire folder___X3__FW2.1  inside the external card?

Had some trouble understanding his speech. Yes, he was using a Mac laptop,

but could not see just were to place it and if the entire folder.

Feeling as bit dense.

Any ideas?

Not the whole folder just the x3.fw file. Drop it straight onto the card icon.

Or did I misread?

Remove it *afterwards* because it has been copied into the X3's internal memory (EEPROM?) by that stage and isn't required on the card any more. I suspect that is to prevent you accidentally re-launching the upgrade process unnecessarily.

No problem. It's a pleasure to help someone who *has* searched the threads and tried to help themselves first - it makes the explanations so much easier 8^).

Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I do. It has it's quirks, no doubt, but they're all forgotten once the headphones are on, and the volume is turned up 8^).

LOLOL___I really want to hear this___but cannot find or change __why?

It usually asks you when you upgrade the firmware but I guessed it got confused by the lock being set. Go to the home screen, pick the last option (System Settings) then the language setting is the first option. If you can't find it, it may be easier to re-upgrade the firmware as I'm pretty sure it will ask you to set the language again - but I'm not absolutely sure.

You're supposed to do this on your PC, not on the X3. How did you delete the files? If you did it on your Mac you'll have to re-connect the X3 and then "Empty the Trash". I use an app called "Eject for Windows" on my Mac which clears out all the extraneous stuff that the Mac creates.

I can't help you with the MP3 stuff - I use true VBR AAC files created using XLD or FLACs. I have a few Amazon MP3s but they all play fine.

For the non working mp3s, if you have a PC, try mediainfo http://mediaarea.net/cs/MediaInfo and try to figure out what's the problem with them, comparing to working ones.

I'm currently running firmware 1.31 and I'm having problems upgrading to the new firmware 2.1. I keep on getting this message when I simultaneously press the power and menu buttons. The message reads... "update file not found". My TF Card is formatted to FAT32. I've also tried other cards formatted to FAT32... same problem. Has anyone come across this same problem?. If so, what did you do to remedy this, so it would upgrade to the new firmware? Thanks.
