AUDEZE LCD XC - Page 20

If the XC came with the option of natural Japanese or piano black finished polished wood ohh man thats drool worthy.

@XC owners: whats the shiny polish finish on the XC like? Is it prone to scratches/nail marks? Does the outer finish look thick?

So any XC owners can comment on the bass compared to a TH900 or Denon ?

I know this thread is for the LCD-XC, but the photos below are of the headband I did for my 009's. I'm showing it on this thread because the headband I'm doing for my LCD-XC, will look very similar to the one in the photos. The difference will be, the 3M Di-Noc sheeting I used on the headband for my 009's is carbon fibre look, whereas the 3M Di-Noc sheeting I'm putting on the headband for my LCD-XC will be Bubinga look.

Because I've still got some of the carbon fibre sheeting left though, I'm going to use a small amount with the Bubinga on that headband.

Because of the shape of the headband, and that I've never done anything with 3M Di-Noc before, there are some small creases on both edges of the headband that i found difficult to get out, however they're very small and can only be seen by looking up close, and by feel.

Pardon my ignorance, where did they mention the black rings were a limited time?

The finish looks good and thick...especially when compared to the D7000s.

From the time I spent with the XC, I think the metal would be easier to scuff than the wood cups. The lacquer seems to be quite a thick coat. I do worry about the corners with the exposed screws though.

Depends on the listener. I found the XC somewhat lacking in the bass department, but for others it may be just right. Also depends on the type of music you listen to most often, in some sense.

I'm the type that demands the bass act as proper bedrock - a placeholder for rhythm - a club/lounge/loft type of atmosphere, so to speak. Results in a more enveloping sound when combined with slightly recessed midrange, hence my preference for the TH900's presentation.

If you're the type that likes a more gig-like or studio-jam type of presentation, particularly one driven by more forward midrange or vocals, the LCD-XC's presentation may be more to your liking. It's a more centered, in-front-of-you type sound. There's still a fair amount of bass presence, but compared to the TH900 it's not as driving.

It seems we have to take what we're given in the UK for now :-(

I still don't understand why the brown leather isn't available for the new phones. After all, it is in the options.

I've had another look at the 3M Di-Noc Bubinga wood look sheeting I got for the headband I'm doing for my LCD-XC, and because it's darker than the Bubinga on my LCD's, I've decided to use the left over carbon fibre sheet I used on my 009's headband.

if you looking for punchy with Fun sounding bass, then denon and th900 will work bettter

but if you looking for tight deep yet not overwhelming  like audiophile bass then XC will works better

I did own TH600 right before I bought XC and I have friend who has th900 so I had enough time to compared.

Both has really good extension. both tend to go lower than 15hz at higher volume. Possibly 10hz if you are loud listener.

The biggest difference between TH900 and XC are amount of bass. I found TH900 has more boost around 50~100hz.

On the other hands, XC tent to have more liner and flatter bass then TH600,and 900

The TH900 looks to be slightly on the brighter side. Wonder if they sound that way.

To my ears they are brighter. The XC's treble is smoother and more linear (if this makes sense).

Makes total sense to me.

Has anybody tried these straight from an iPhone? I will probably buy a cheap amp, but just curious.
