Best cables on the market IMO.

In your opinion:

1)  do you think Hugo's amp is "enough" for the XC? or it would dramatically improve from an additional amp?

2)  will the Hugo accentuate XC's bright side?

Many thanks

@Lutrty Hugo can run the XC just fine, IMHO. But, I find it too clear, fast and bright. I enjoy the darkness.

If you enjoy the darkness you probably own the wrong Audeze redface.gif

goes great with the LCD-Xs, but not a good match with the XC's; try the Black Dragon instead.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking but didn't want to buy blind.

In my bedroom I've currently got a set of TH-900 running through a Yulong DA-8 (with an Onkyo ND-S1000/iPod (ALC) as the source).  I enjoy this combo, however, I keep waking up my wife because the TH-900 leak so badly and it's starting to become a real issue.  After quite a bit of reading I'm thinking of getting rid of the Fostex and moving to the LCD-XC.

So...my questions are (to those that would have some first-hand experience):

1.  Will the isolation and leakage improvement of the XC be worth this change/upgrade from the TH-900?  I mean, how well do the XC isolate and contain the sound?  I had the Beyer T5P for a while and that was pretty good for isolation/leakage (probably good enough...but the sound quality never thrilled me).  Would the XC be along the lines of the T5P or better?  I know it must be better than the TH-900...

2.  Probably a long shot, but...has anyone heard the XC through a Yulong DA-8?  Any impressions?  Would the DA8 be a reasonably good match?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

My silver dragon sounds great with XC's. I guess, it depend on what amp you are using.

That's great to hear about the Moon Audio Silver Dragon with the XC, since that's the cable I'm considering right now.  I've already tried the Blue Dragon and Black Dragon with the XC and, surprisingly, I didn't prefer them.  Surprisingly, since I've used them both in the past and felt one or both were significant improvements on the HD600, HD700 and HD800 stock cables, and some have already said they really liked the Black Dragon (which is recommended for the XC on the Moon site.)  But IMO not with the LCD-XC, which, it seems, already has an excellent stock cable.

Then, just recently, a friend tried the Silver Dragon with his LCD-X and raved about the improvement.  But that's with the X which has a slightly more subdued treble v. the XC.

So, I have no doubt that the Silver Dragon will provide an improvement in detail, transparency, bass definition, and other parameters.

But, my only question is:

Question:  Did you find that the Silver Dragon increased the treble on the XC? (maybe to the point where the treble became a bit overbearing on certain songs)?

Thx for the input.

Isolation is good. Much better than the Fostex models. TH900 more fun to listen to though :-)

not at all. Treble is about the same as stock. Separation and soundstage is better. But not much. I have 5 feet cable which is very convinient for me. Stock cable is too long.

that is the reason why I bought both. Xc is good for laying in the bed at night and not bothering people around and not overkill for my neck. Fostex is great for long office sessions.

Yeah, I am a bit concerned about giving up the Fostex...like I said, I really do like the TH900.  But, in order to not wake up my wife I have to turn the volume so low that even the TH-900 aren't much fun to listen to (especially since I have tinnitus)!  The ability to crank the XC up a bit should make it a lot more fun than my current setup.

Did you ever consider the Alpha Dog? Great isolation, terrific value and far more comfortable and less picky with regard to amping than the XC. The Audeze is technically better but it's not always fun - even with the volume cranked up. By the way, is the top of your head made of granite and do you have a strong neck? Just saying, they're superb headphones but I would advise anybody looking to buy to take them for an extended demo before making the purchase. They're not for everyone. They're very energetic in the upper mid and treble regions too. Something to think about if you suffer from tinnitus :-)

I have the XC and I absolutely subscribe Tony's observation about the upper mids and treble.

I never tried the ADs. How would you compare the sound signatures? I'm still looking for a closed back more on the dark side to listen to vocal based music. Thx
