So what does all this have to do with the LCD-XC?

Or the part where the treble shelving is similar on the SR007/SR009 as well for the same reason? So based on your comments, I'm dead wrong, so are leesure, Jude, Tyll, Skylab and many others...and only you are right? :gs1000smile:

So let me get this right, you are the source of what is real?  And anyone disagreeing is wrong?

You go, Mac.  All I know is that I always treasure your reviews and comments regarding headphones...which is one of the reasons why the LCD-X has become my main target (the next headphones I'll get now that my Ultrasone Ed 12, sigh, are on the way).  Your comments are well thought-out, clear, concise, to the point, and always serve as a compass that always helps me navigate the murky waters.  The people you mention above (including your) are the veritable Mount Rushmore of Head-Fi...the gurus.

Thanks man.  The LCD-XC really look intriguing and if they sound like the LCD-Xs, I may have a new pair to put on my radar.

Ed. 12s, interesting....looking forward to your impressions on them. I didn't realize that they were released yet?

Yes, they are...got them from Moon Audio...I'm rolling the dice with this one...I'm afraid they are gonna be a trebly pain in the neck.  Nobody knows much about the Edition 12...I think the Edition 10s (specially Tyll's video and the outrageous price) scared legions away (as Yogi Berra once said, they are staying away in droves!).  I am really scared, but if I don't like them, I'll return them.  LCD-XC is also in the radar...but only after I get the LCD-X.

I would think that Ultrasone learned from the Ed.10s. :o

Please let us know. At least the LCD-X (and by the looks of it LCD-XC) look like great options. smily_headphones1.gif

It was the deafening silence concerning the Edition 12s and the fact that I'm assuming that Ultrasone will hopefully go overboard in trying to get their act together and correct the deficiencies of the Edition 10 that made me take the plunge.  There have been a smattering of mini-reviews and comments in the Edition 12 thread, but nothing major.  For once, I will be more of a leader than a follower in this one...I have always tended to wait for people like you to provide their opinions regarding headphones rather than taking the initiative (or being impulsive, for that matter).  We'll see how it goes.  Visit the Edition 12 thread tomorrow at night to get my first impressions (or depressions, hahah!).

I thought Tyll recommended them for monitoring to pick out and fix nasty flaws in mixes, because their accentuated treble sure points them out.

Read or re-read his HD800 review and the key parts on his objective interpretation on the measurements page. Don't want to derail this thread.

I did re-read his HD800 and then LCD2/LCD3 reviews, he mentions the HD800 specifically for its microscopic detail retrieval-- the reviews were just as I remembered.

They (hd800) make an ideal headphone for mastering applications where even the tiniest sound must be laid bare.

My go-to recommendation is the Sennheiser HD 800--there's simply nothing in the mix that will escape detection with the HD 800. They're the audio microscope; great for mastering work.

if you mix with them (hd800) you might end up with a bit of bass boost and laid-back mid-treble.

Though not the microscope that the HD800 is, in many ways the Audeze LCD-2 and LCD-3 are the more neutral sounding cans.

I think I'd trust either of the Audeze cans for general balance and mixing over the HD 800

More photos from anyone? It helps lighten the mood around here and induce drool... Which is one of the purposes of Head Fi! Are all the color options available in the USA?
