FWIW, I have the LCD-3 and LCD-XC and love them both.

oh, got it now, you can come out of your corner. I'm envious of your two siblings in your collection ... :D

None yet.....the Alpha Dog arrived at the same time (of course ) so I'm on those at the moment. I hate trying two new cans at the same time...they end up cancelling each other out and throw me into a state of confusion

I will get to the LCD-XC sometime over the weekend.

I'm very interested to hear your impressions of both... I'm looking at getting either the xc or ad myself

Has anyone gone for a long walk with the LCD XC? Like a 90 minute walk? I might grab a pair.

LCD-XC are very heavy, they will shift on your head easily due to the weight.  They're a good transportable headphone but not a portable headphone.  They also leak a lot for closed-back because the large LCD diaphragm emits so much sound outward and the wooden shell can't contain the large wave.

I don't mind a bit of leak because i don't listen very loud. Would they leak as much as HD800/650?

Someone should post up a video of an example of leak.

I used to walk around with HD 650 and enjoyed it a lot.

LCD XC as Close headphone sealed much better than open headphone like HD 650 and HD 800
Even better sealed than Fostex TH 900

So as long as it doesn't move to much while im walking it'l be fine.

Can you walk around a bit with it to test for me?

I'm giving serious thought to buying these but until my stratus arrive's i will have no amp and will be using it portable for the summer.

While the LCD-XC's don't leak like open headphones do, they still leak, if you're looking for phones that hardly leak, then IMO CIEM's are the ones to go for.

I just received my XCs today from Justin. What is the consensus as far as burn in time?

Finally, a thank you to Justin who allowed me to compare the XC to the X before buying which made the purchase that much easier. Of course, I did guaranty him a sale of one or the other once I made up my mind. Everything went very smoothly.

How are these as an upgrade to Denon D5000s?  I've seen posts comparing "fun" factor with rating the Denons a bit higher, though I'm not really sure what that's measured again.

I've been interested in trying out the planar magnetic approach and ever since Audeze introduced the closed back design I have been salivating.  The price is a little daunting, but I am inching pretty close to pulling the trigger.

My Denons are about 3 years old now and I've had the faulty cable design replaced once, with my current cable being semi broken (again) for quite some time.  I have debated back and forth on replacing the Denon cable or just stop dumping money into them and finally do a complete upgrade.  Lately the upgrade side has been winning.

I currently live in La Honda, CA, in the mountains, so I have fast hiked well over an hour with my XCs ... I didn't find it to be a problem at all. Yes, there is the possibility of weight shift, but for my 7 3/4" head, any weight shift was slight and not bothersome. I used my AK240 as my source.

I found the XCs to be exceedingly bright when new, but after a couple hundred hours of play, the upper mids settled down significantly. With now about 500 hours of play, my XCs sound magnificent.

I owned the D7000s for awhile and I liked them a lot. The fun factor was of course the bass presentation and the resulting warmish mids. The XCs, in my humble opinion, are significantly better, especially in detail retrieval and soundstage presentation. The bass is way leaner than the D7000s, but more accurate.

"Leaner" bass like the AKG K701s?  Or still powerful, just not as overbearing as the Denons?  I unfortunately don't think I can audition them anywhere before deciding on purchasing.
