I haven't been able to try it yet, but the HA-1 has landed. Impressions with the XC are imminent.

In preparation for the XC, I am training my neck and head muscles by wearing four pairs of regular headphones at the same time :D

Nice! That should do it!

Seriously, with the new earpads (over the LCD-2s) and the weight distribution, I find them ok on my head.

Thanks Peter...nice to know that I won't snap any neck vertebrae

It's really hot here today and I'm finding the ear pads a bit warm, even compared to my LCD-2.

One word of caution....... If you have slightly large ears they may rub on the Fazors. Mine does all the time and it really gets irritating. This even after I stuffed some foam in there and stretched the headband, and only on the right ear. I love the SQ so I suck it up.

On a side note, these things sound amazing to me on the HA-1. Just some quick listening, but I'm impressed. Funny thing is that now I want to try the WA7 for some tube love.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have a head fi problem.

I haven't posted in a while, but now that my XCs are fully burned in as well as my AK240, and now that I have a DHC cable to take advantage of the balanced output of the 240, I'm in blissful heaven. I love my XCs and I don't find the weight of them to be an issue at all, even when hiking.

Have you done a comparison of the XC's with open cans while hiking?

While isolation from the XC's likely provide a lower noise floor, I'd suspect that open headphones like the LCD-3 or LCD-X would provide a much more natural sound stage.

Hi BM,

No, I haven't. My last few pair of headphones I've owned have all been closed designs.

While I agree soundstage width is better on open back designs, the XCs do an admirable job here. In terms of front to back depth, I would argue with the right source and amp the XCs can compare very favorably to any of the comparable open back designs.

Sorry, that was actually just a really bad pun... Get it? Open cans = natural sound stage... OK, going back to hide in my corner.

FWIW, I have the LCD-3 and LCD-XC and love them both.
