Hello.. Very new to the forum, but hear there could be a few opinions here... ;)
Short background- I've owned Bose QC for 7-8 years now and they finally broke. I looked into Beats Pros and while the sound was better than my QC's, they beat the crap out of my ears and were not really comfortable.
I primarily use my headphones for working out, home use, and occasionally for travel. I also use them with my iphone and ipads (no serious equipment). I like pop, dance, rap, country, and rock. While I will occasionally listen to Jazz/Classical, it's not a priority.
Researching, here is my "analysis":
Beats Pro- Decent sound, but painful after 20 minutes... not worth 400 bucks.
Momentum- obvious market (me back in my QC days), great sound, decent features, but not a ton of base. I also checked out the HD 380's and they were nice, but not great.
ATH-M50's - Awesome for the price point and sounded great- no frills and still very comfortable.
V-Moda 100- Have yet to try any.
I'm willing to go up to $400 if a pair can really kill it, but right now the M50's seem tough to beat for what I need. I also thought with the $$$ saves, I could buy a pair of buds for the workouts.
My questions so far are:
1- Any other headphones to check other that would be on par with the M50's? (up to $400 and ones that I can check out pretty easily)
2- Are the Shure 425's or 535's worth the dough? The Guitar Center guys said these would rock my world and suggested I ditch the M50's and get one of those for everything.
Thanks to anyone that is willing to help out!
