Hello I'm new. Benchmark DAC1 + AKG Q701

Hello my name is Alex.

I'm new here. I'm also new to high-end sound. But since I listen to music alot I thought it was time for an upgrade from my moderboard soundcard/gaming headset/2.1 Logitech  sound. I like all kind of music but mostly electronic music and the whole Psy-genre (goa, prog, downtempo...)

After some search at the internet I found this forums and have read some threads about hardware and stuff. I'm not too sure what I'm looking for though.

So what am I looking for? I want high quality sound from my computer to my ears . Of what i think I need, I've been looking for a DAC and cans to start with, then later I want monitors and a MIDIkeyboard for Cubase. I'm totally new to that producing stuff too, so I don't need a hi-tech gear for that, just a cheap MIDIkeyboard to play around with.

I got a deal,

-  Benchmark DAC1 (older version without USB)

-  M2Tech HiFace USB

-  AKG Q701

All used in great condition for 760$. Would you consider that a good deal? I'm living in Sweden and think it's a bit more expensive here than in the US and buying from US would be expensive shipping.

Is that all i need to get good-sounding music? I've been reading here at the forums about playing the music with ASIO? To get the quality im looking for, is that so?

Many thanks in advance.

That sounds like a killer deal, easily. I'd go for it in a heartbeat if I were looking for that equipment.

I'm not familiar with the M2Tech USB. If it uses its own drivers, try those first. ASIO is more about getting everything to work in case the stock drivers are giving you difficulty. WASAPI is another option. I use WASAPI because I wasn't sure if the stock drivers for my DAC were outputting 16 bit music in 24 bit mode. A plugin like ASIO or WASAPI lets you be sure of these types of settings.

Yeah it seems like a good deal, though I don't really know the used value. Thank you for your answer, gonna read more about ASIO/WASAPI while I wait for my gear.
