So far these are as smooth as a baby's bottom, with goobs of detail and just the right amount of bass. I'll review further as time passes.

Damn. It's been awhile since I listened to my 3580's, and I decided to pull them out of the bag to listen to some rock, and I can't believe how much I've grown to dislike their sound sig. Even EQ'd, they simply are starting to show as an extreme budget IEM. No wonder they're last on my list.

I still haven't received my recently ordered TDK IE800's, so they could easily vault to the top of the list, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention my Klipsch Reference S4's as a definite favorite as well (these have a more refined sound signature than the horrid regular S4). But for now, the JVC's and Philips are such great IEM's that present crunchy guitars, fast resolving bass drums, and fun cymbal crashes and extended treble. All of these are needed to get a fun, detailed heavy sound. Let's not mention really smooth mids to present voices from gutteral to soaring falsettos. So what IEM's or OEM's do you recommed for heavy metal or hard rock? I'm listening....

Is Philips SHE3580 that good for metal music. I mainly focus on guitars while listening to metal music which we all listeners prefer I guess. Many IEMs are unable to produce good guitar sound. Does this earphone really produce vivid forward sounding/crunching guitar tones?

I currently do not have budget for $100 IEM so I am considering this as an alternative.

My favorite for metal without any extra EQ, usually about $60, is the Sony AS800AP. I don't know if they sell the Vsonic GR99 anymore, but it was great and under $30.

I haven't heard anything under around £150 that sounds good for metal
