Starting to get Serious about Sound

Hi Everybody My name is Cody and I am here for a couple of reasons.

1) I found this site through Mad Lust Envy's guide for gaming headphones etc.

- I think I have decided to go the route of finding some ATH-AD700's. Everything I have heard about them for gaming has been good and they seem like a decent price point. I would probably pair them with the Astro Mix Amp, just not sure which one was is best for the pair at the moment. I would also want to add a mic as communicating is important to me. I have seen some of the MOD's for the mics and they amaze me. I love the boom mic set ups (Blanking at the moment but I remember seeing two that have a detachable boom mic that cost like .40 on amazon and link the audio/mic through one cord with two jacks in the cup and then a splitter for the mix amp at the bottom) I wish I could just buy them and ship them to somebody who would work their magic for me and send them back. As well as the comfort mod. (I know somebody on here is selling some with over 300 hours of burn in for 70 shipped and the cheapest I can find them on amazon is 130 ish)

2) To learn more about sound etc. I also think that once I return my skull candy headphones that I bought years ago but manufacturer defect has lead to poor sound down the road that I will invest in some Phillips Citiscape Uptowns. They are available on Amazon for less that 80 and from what I have heard provide great sound for the price comparable to the M50s.

Other things about me, I am currently a sophomore in College, I am an Electronic Media Communications major. If anybody is around the Twin Cities area in Minnesota and you are in the south metro you can probably hear my on the radio, 88.1 The Remnant. It is a station owned by my college along with KTIS, it is awesome to have such a great radio program. I also play football and I am just trying to figure out what to do with my life before sinking myself in debt.

After headphones other things include Lasik Surgery, Fixing up my 78 El Camino and getting a Motorcycle.

I look forward to getting to know everybody. :)

Welcome!

Traditional greeting...

Welcome to head-fi, sorry about your wallet...

I've noticed more and more new members that are coming here because they are looking for better gaming headphones. Traditionally, head-fi wasn't the place to come for info on gaming 'phones - I wonder if the audio in games has improved and gamers are now more worried about such things than they were in the past? Or is it all just the result of more marketing?

Whatever the reason - welcome!

I think sound in games are definitely getting better. For me I know that if your sound is terrible, the game is mostly likely terrible as well. Unless it's a silent film etc bad sound can ruin everything. I am currently looking to get some of the AD700's but I can't seem to find them at a decent price, even used ones on amazon are like 130.. Any chance anybody here knows of a reliable seller or place online to get a good pair sub-100 bucks? I dont have enough posts to put a wanted ad in the Classifieds yet. :(

Just keep posting and keep watching the buy/sell forum. You'll have plenty of posts in no time, and sooner or later someone will be selling - they always do... tongue.gif

Yeah.. I saw some on ebay today. New condition and no bids left with 14 minutes left for 79, however I do not yet have a ebay account or a paypall account so I am kind of out of luck on that one, which really sucks... I doubt that Ill find a price like that again for ones in that condition. However maybe if nobody bids I can contact the seller

Never say never - there's always another deal. Thinking you HAVE to buy the great deal you see today is a very good way to become very poor, very fast. wink.gif
