Sennheiser HD650 driver issue?

I've had my HD650's for just over a year, and they have been fantastic so far. I've recently noticed when bass is playing, and nothing else, I can hear something between a rattle or scratchy noise out of the left driver. Even low volume with bass playing softly as an intro, it's there. The sound is still good, not distorting, so the issue is only audible when sound is low. I'm currently running optical out of an essence stx to a Schiit Bifrost, then to a Bottlehead Crack (non speedball) to HD650. I'm just trying to troubleshoot before I start looking into driver replacement. Btw, source is Jriver running all flac. Is this a blown driver? Maybe a tube issue? Any thoughts are greatly welcome.

I reversed the cables and it stayed on the left side. Tried left channel on the right driver with nothing connected on the left driver, and the sound was clear. Then I tried connecting the right channel to the left driver with nothing on the right side, and it was back. So I'm pretty sure that rules out the source.
