Mmmm to bassy and to bright?

Well I wont know how bassy it is until I try them. Everyone has a taste for different basses, I guess for some, there isnt enough bass while others might have too much for their ears.

But ill take your info into consideration smily_headphones1.gif

Also, the Fiio E11, is that a good amp for a pair of headphones? i saw that its a portable amp but for $50, its seems reasonable.

Yea the DT 990 is pretty V shaped, but I did enjoy the mods on it very much. It depends on your tastes though. ANd yes for $50 it should be able to drive most headphones to a decent level! Plus it has a bass boost, so if you get a MA 900 and want a little more kick, the E11 will help u out there

Also I sometimes use eBay and B&H when shopping for headphones. Although I mainly buy from users here at Head Fi

Oh ok. Seems like the MA900 are the prefered choice then. I just hope no one else comes in and says the DT990s are better lol.

Thanks for the info, and I will definitely get the Fiio E11

I don't think the DT 990 vs the MA900 is a matter of "better" but rather preferance. You may Prefer the MA900 or you may Prefer the DT 990

If "better" means more accurately reproducing what goes in (= most neutral), then the Sony is "better".

If it means which headphone sound signature "I prefer", then reasonable ears will differ.

Mmm its so hard to choose which one lol. I wish I had money for both and I would call it a day. And money wise, the DT990 is about 150-160 on amazon while the MA900 are about 200. Of course, each headset has their Pros and Cons. I guess I havent been given alot of cons For each headset, I wonder if some who has tried both could give me Pros and Cons for both headset, nothing long, just the main points

I haven't head the MA900, but I've owned the DT990 Pro. In a nutshell...

Pros: Powerful bass, good for genres like electronic or rap
Cons: Midrange is a bit recessed, highs can be fatiguing especially on bright or poorly recorded songs

The DT990 is widely known for having serious bass for an open headphone in this price range. If you like bass, I'd say just get the DT990. What I've read about the MA900 suggests that it's more of a smooth and natural sound, vs a more "fun" sound you get from the DT990. You can't really go wrong though, both are going to be good overall. The MA900 has plenty of fans, so it's got to be doing something right as well.

The main reason Id be getting either or headphones is because Ill be using it with an astro mix amp pro and the fioo e11...so gaming is the main priority
