I listen to mainly hip hop and electro music. Not really any rock. Just hip hop and electro.

I am going to be using these for sound design though with FL Studio.

Go.

Short answer: the M100, no comparison.

Really? I know there is an obvious price difference but why? I've read the V-MODA's bass can overpower the mids and highs of the headphone while the Technica's are very balanced.

I definitely need the bass but explain please lol.

M100 is an improvement in all areas: bass, mids, treble, resolution, accuracy, etc. The m100 has a ton of bass but its controlled. The m50's bass is emphasized, though not by as much as the m100's, and it isn't as tight and solid. The price difference however would be fully justified, if the ATH WS99 didn't exist which is $200.

I agree with Trunks159. However, if your primary use is audio production with FL Studio, a more neutral sounding headphone is probably a better idea.

Consider also the M-Audio Q40. The Bass on these is great.

Which do you think is better, the Audio-Technica WS99 or the V-Moda M-100?  I'm also looking for a nice pair of bass-heavy headphones to listen to rock and rap without losing too much of the mids. I already have the ATH-M50s but the bass isn't good enough for me.

I prefer the WS99 since it's closer to neutral.

Thanks.  How would you say it compares to the M50?

Similar sound. Less sibilance, tighter bass, a, little more bass, larger soundstage, clearer midrange. Also more prominent midrange.

The sound quality of the M100 is almost as good as the M50, though I understand that's rather faint as praise goes.
