Hey all!

I've been reading the forum for a while and love the community and knowledge....so much to learn. I've tried to read before asking but I've reached my limit, which is too low for a non-audiophile and need your help now.

I need help picking up some headphones that I wish to buy.

I love music, and the details in it. I listen to classical, instrumental, opera, jazz, techno, sometimes rock and pop...so it varies and I like balance but also enjoy a good bass. My whole library is almost in lostless format so I'm looking to enjoy it a bit better than now. I want great isolation also and budget is $150 or below.

These are my options:

Sennheiser HD-280 PRO
Sony MDR7506 Professional
Sennheiser HD 449
Shure SRH440 Professional Studio
Audio Technica M50

Thanks all!
Abe

Sorry for extra bump but I couldn't edit.
I would also use them for movies, so I'll be using them a lot so comfortability is kinda important. I hate being picky and buying new electronics...

What sources (and DAC & amp) will you be plugging the headphones into?

Why do you say $150 and have the HD 280 and not the HD 380?  I have the 380's and I'm very happy with them.  They are on Amazon for $140 right now and that's what I paid on Amazon 3 months ago or so.

Is it better than the 280? If so, I'll throw it in the list too. Thanks!

HD280 has fairly weak bass. Much less than Sony MDR 7506, for example. MDR 7506 / V6 (same thing except for the stickers on the cups) are a good choice for running unamped, but the treble is on the harsh side. Good amount of detail for the price range though.

Would you pick those above the ATH-M50?

I've heard both the HD280 and V6, and I'd pick the V6 over the HD280. I haven't head the M50, but people's reviews suggest that they are better than the V6.
