Setup with Beyerdynamic T1

Thread Starter

I am about to get my high end Beyerdynamic T1 but what else would I need?

I heard WA2 matches very well with T1. Would I need a DOC if I am listening music via computer? I heard I will need a source before my amp.

Any suggestion would be nice.

can anyone help me out here?

Besides the headamp, you will need a S/PDIF converter, a DAC and good interconnects. Then go from there to improve the sound you are looking for, hoping you still have some money left after the T1 purchase

For instance my rig:

computer (Foobar 2000) or Synology D412+ -> (interconnect Audioquest Carbon) M2Tech Hiface Evo -> (interconnect Van den Hul AES/EBU) Musical Fidelity M1 DAC -> (balanced) Shure FP22 -> Beyerdynamic T1

Hope this helps

Good luck!

By the way, there is a Shure FP22 headamp for sale on eBay right now for $100 (not mine). Try it, you will not regret buying this professional piece of equipment used by broadcasting engineers. You will not find any information on it at Head-Fi, but it is highly underestimated. It is better then the Musical Fidelity M1 HPA which pairs well with the T1 too, but I sold it, kept the FP22 and saved some money to buy nice IEM's.

For a source player, suggest you check out the OPPO BDP-105 player.

For amp, the Decware CSP3 pairs very well with the T1.

My audio chain

OPPO BDP 95 -> Decware CSP3 -> Beyer T1

thanks for the input guys

I think you just need a good DAC, and headphone amp. it actually depends on your budget. WA2 is really good when paired with T1. For the DAC i think resonessencelabs concero is a perfect choice if you dont want to spend more than 700usd on your DAC.

how about wa7 for both amp/dac with t1?

oh, I used to have WA7, and it pairs well with t1(but not as good as WA2), and personally I think WA7 is a really good choice considering its size and sound quality. However, the only bad thing for WA7 is that you have to wait almost one month if you want to buy a brand new one, because it is build to order.

do you have any info on bifrost dac? or even modi/loki?

Bifrost is really good, and I had it for a long time until I upgrade to PS audio nuwave. However, I still think Bifrost with uber upgrade is one of the best DAC under 600usd. Modi is great in its price range. I have never used loki, so I dont know about it. lyr/bifrost combo is good for t1, but still I prefer WA2
