Wanted:
WTB - Philips Fidelio L1 (Lesson Learned)

Will Ship To: Anywhere

[Edit - Nov 25, 2013]

Hello,

I just want to post this information about a lesson learned. I know this is not the right place, but I think this is a way to reach the most members on Head-fi.

I posted the below Wanted ads on Nov 9th, 2013. I was looking for a pair of Fidelio L1. Shortly after the ads went online, a member 'iemguy66' contacted me and said he had a pair of L1 for sale. The price he agreed to was real attractive, he also sent me the photo of the phones. So I never had a doubt and sent him the money through PayPal the same day.

It has been 3 weeks now and I have not received the item. I just checked on his profile and found he has been banned by Head-fi. It was unfortunate that my purchase probably just took place right before he was banned. So I am not sure if I could ever get my money back.

I don't know if I am against any Head-fi policy by posting this information. But I just want everyone to be aware that those scammers are out there. I know Head-fi has strongly recommended not to send payments by gifts. There is a reason for that. I learned my hard lesson. I will never use gift payment again, I would rather pay the fees.

I have filed a complaint through PayPal. But I am not holding my hope high.

Hi,

I am interested in a pair of Philips Fidelio L1 in good condition. If you have a pair that you are willing to part with please let me know. I am located in Houston Texas.

Thanks.

I think if u sent ur money through paypal using good/service, u can always get ur money back.

The problem was that I didn't use the goods/services option when sending the payment. I thought I was being nice to the seller. That was part of the lesson learned - never use gift option.

PayPal indicated that they will consider this payment as a sales transaction. I will wait and see what happens. Like I said I will not hold my hope high.

I have nothing against head-fi community. I believe 99.9% of the members are all enthusiastic about headphones and are all honest people. I just want to remind everyone to use cautions and,

1. check the credentials or feedback of the seller before commit to a sale, be careful when someone has just registered and is eager to sell

2. don't mind what the seller asked, don't send payments as gifts for your own protection - unless you have prior experience with the seller

This may sound unfair to new members. But they need to earn their credibility first.

:( That definitely sucks.I hope somehow paypal can refund your money.

I'm in the same boat.

I bought a pair of Se535 from this guy and he send me a fake tracking number from Germany. I live in Canada but can speak German so I called the Deutsch Postal service and they told me it was a fake tracking number. I immediately filed a Paypal claim on 15/11 and he send me another fake tracking number from Latvia.

This story does have a happy ending as Paypal refunded me my money today.

That sucks..... Hope you can get a refund

If you are still in the market for the L1 mine is up for sale on ebay (account 'edwinpost'), PayPal only located in Europe. I am not an active (trade)member here on Head-Fi as I am unloading my collection of headphones. You can buy in confidence, please check my feedback or PM me

Thanks for the offer.

Paypal did manage to recover the money from that seller and I have received my refund. Big kudos to Paypal.

No, not going to buy the L1 at this time. I have acquired other nice headphones in the past few weeks so I am all set for now.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Great! I guess you are very lucky as you did pay as a gift. Now it seems that there is no difference in paying as a gift or not, anyway I am glad you got your money back and found a good alternative

Merry Christmas to you too!

That sounds wonderful.

I got my refund too. I have to give credits to Paypal for their great job in recovering the money from that seller.

It seems to me that the seller is quite familiar with the headphones and possibly a headphone lover himself. It was very unfortunate that he chose to go down the path as a scammer just for a few hundred dollars. He ruined his own credit history as well as this great head-fi user community.
