Looking for preamp with two balanced (XLR) outputs

Thread Starter

I am looking for a preamp with at least two pairs of XLR outputs, and one pair of XLR inputs. Preferably less than $500. I have no need for RCA inputs/outputs.

This is difficult to find, any help would be much appreciated.

What kind of pre amp do you want?

Phono pre amp? mic pre amp? Something with int amp pre amp functionality? Would a distribution amp do?

There are solutions to all within your budget. For multiple balanced outs you will probably have to look to pro audio.

Here is one possible example. The outputs are TRS jack (to save space) rather than XLR but its the same thing really.

More suggestions available if you can supply further details of requirement.

Thanks for the response.

Here is my situation:

Violectric V800 (DAC) > preamp > Luxman P-1u (headphone amp)

                                           > Focal Twin6 Be (active studio monitors)

I want to feed the Luxman and Focals the same balanced signal, however the V800 has only one pair of XLR outputs, I need two.

It seems that a distribution amp is what I need. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

For a rig like that you probably want something decent. Drawmer, Grace and Sonifex all make excellent products. Check out their websites.

On the other hand and assuming your Focals are active monitors you might find a passive monitor controller more suitable. Get one with a really good main pot.

An example
